Short Synopsis: | Every week on average 84 men take their own lives in the UK. Skate Rats Have Hearts is aimed to raise awareness about men’s mental health. It is an intimate look on how men can move past emotional repression and open up to difficult conversations. Inspired by Ben Raemers, British professional skateboarder that took his own life in May 2019, the project wants to be a liberating piece. Rooted in the skateboard culture, the film explores the tender and vulnerable side of young men that dedicate their life to skateboarding, in contrast with their lifestyle that requires them to be and act tough at all times. Skate Rats Have Hearts celebrates how introspection and feelings of dejection can be transformed into raw and youthful energy. |
